Blue caves is the best known sight of Zante. They are located on the north coast of the island and quite far from the most resorts, such as Laganas, Kalamaki or the town of Zakynthos; but it is totally worth it to pay a visit.
The wild white-colored rocky landscape together with the calm crystal clear blue water of the sea, create a beautiful contrast that leaves you speechless. The shape of the rocks together with the caves and the natural “tunnels” makes that place literally unique.
Best time to visit Blue caves, is in the morning or noon, when the light of the sun diffracts into the water and paints the sea with amazing white and blue colors.
To visit the Blue caves, you can hire a boat or join a cruise. More details about cruises and boat hire. Cruises start from Laganas and town of Zakynthos, but it’s recommended to choose one starting from Agios Nikolaos Volimon port. That is because Agios Nikolaos Volimon port is much closer to the caves, so the cruise boats are smaller and they can fit inside the caves where they can let you go for a quick swim.
No matter which cruise you pick, Blue caves, can be easily combined with a stop at the most famous beach of the island – Navagio (shipwreck beach)-, which is only few minutes away from there.
